Diversity?

When I first filled out an application to attend University of Kentucky, the main question that kept coming up was, "How can you contribute to diversity?" Seeing it so many times before you attend the school makes you think that UK is all about diversity, but when I get here, all the contributing to diversity that they stress, disappears. Being at Junior at UK, I've come to the conclusion that no matter how nice of a black person you really are, white people are still intimidated by you.

Me and one of my roommates were talking the other day and thinks its funny how when we ride on the bus to campus, white people will do everything in their power not to sit next to you and would rather stand. We then joked about how when we are in class, we always have open seats on both sides of us because nobody will sit next to us. We laughed and made jokes about it until I went to class the next day and realized how NOT funny it really was. I made notice that every single black person in my class had open seats on both sides of them. It was a fairly large class and numerous of black people. Every open seat in the class was next to a black person. Is that just a coincidence or does UK actually really do lack diversity?

My opinion: The University of Kentucky lacks diversity tremendously!
