Diversity?

When I first filled out an application to attend University of Kentucky, the main question that kept coming up was, "How can you contribute to diversity?" Seeing it so many times before you attend the school makes you think that UK is all about diversity, but when I get here, all the contributing to diversity that they stress, disappears. Being at Junior at UK, I've come to the conclusion that no matter how nice of a black person you really are, white people are still intimidated by you.

Me and one of my roommates were talking the other day and thinks its funny how when we ride on the bus to campus, white people will do everything in their power not to sit next to you and would rather stand. We then joked about how when we are in class, we always have open seats on both sides of us because nobody will sit next to us. We laughed and made jokes about it until I went to class the next day and realized how NOT funny it really was. I made notice that every single black person in my class had open seats on both sides of them. It was a fairly large class and numerous of black people. Every open seat in the class was next to a black person. Is that just a coincidence or does UK actually really do lack diversity?

My opinion: The University of Kentucky lacks diversity tremendously!

Is She Out There?

"Tez keeps telling me he just turned 30, having dreams of being single forever he’s getting worried and I’m scared too because I’m in the same boat good women are rare too, none of them have come close me I have’nt changed much, you know how I play better safe than sorry..." -Drake

Since I have been in college I have had a chance to meet a lot of different girls. I get to know them, we hang out a lot, I care for them, we mess around, then they want a relationship but I don't. I don't use girls for sex, I just tell myself if it happens it happens, but if it don't then cool. I guess the question I have for myself is why don't I ever want to be in a relationship with these girls?

At this time in my life if you are going to be in a relationship it should be a serious one. Being in college you are at that age where you start to find your wife/husband and if you cant see yourself marrying that person then what is the point in getting in a relationship with them for it to only have a countdown till when your going to break it off. I've been told that most people meet their significant other when they are in college, but I can see myself finding that special someone. I know what I want in a girl and I know what kind of girl will be right for me. Problem is, I have yet to find her. Will I ever find her?

One thing I wont do is jump into a relationship just so I can say Im in one just to be unhappy, and I will not settle for less than the girl I'm looking for. I'm tired of all these girls being short stories, I'm ready for a novel.

Quick Thought on Faith

Being a college student living in the whole college atmosphere can be hard for you to stay in the Faith with all thats going on. Growing up I was never a big church goer, but when I first started college I started going more on my own. I dont know if I am the only one who feels this way, but when something negative happens in my life I start to lose my faith in God. I know it sounds bad but when your going through something and people tell you to pray and everything will work out on its own and you do pray and all the bad things you dont want to happen actually does, you start to lose your trust.

Recently with me, I have not been doing to well in school. Its not that I dont try because I work my butt off and pray about all my school work and it seems as if my grades are continuously going down. When times is hard I pull out my Bible, but when im struggling with school I dont know what to read since college wasnt around back then and nobody went through the things I go through with grades and financially being able to pay for college.

I lost my scholarship this past semester and I was very disappointed about that. I was able to try and appeal it to keep the scholarship and I got word the other day that they did appeal it. Now is that Gods work or because of the appeal letter I had to write? Its hard for me to say with how Im feeling right now. But thats just a quick thought right now. So I guess I will just pray about it? We'll see...

Last weekend I went to Chicago to work at another Nascar event for 2 days. Im not a big Nascar kinda guy but watching it live was actually pretty cool. they go much faster than they look on tv. I couldn't sit there and watch the whole race but a couple laps would be fine with me LOL.

Heres a few pictures:
Spectators cheering them on
People waiting to get in, and that was early in the day
Those cars were fast!

Recent Frustration

So lately I don't know if im having a bad attitude towards things or what, but it seems like everywhere I go, there is someone there that just likes to push my buttons! Anybody else feel that way? Well some of my recent frustration has been towards my Boss at work. I really can not stand him. Dont you hate when your boss just acts like a dick for no reason? I would give examples but I would just go for days of all these examples LOL. I might be wrong, tell me if I am, but dont you think that if your boss was more lenient and laid back you would enjoy working and wouldnt mind your job? Since my boss likes to act all up tight, it just makes me hate my job and cant stand working! He makes me want to be like Latrell Sprewell and choke my boss LOL.

I am also taking a English summer class late in the day and by the time I get to class im tired and irritable but all the squares in my class dont seem to understand that and annoy me even more. They say the dumbest things and people in the class thinks its hilarious. I hate it when you have that one real smart person in class and they think their job is to make everyone else feel dumb! NO! Sit back, relax, and mind your business!

That is all for now. Everyone, stay positive and try not to let all these basic people/lames in the world bring you down!

Fathers Day Weekend

It's been awhile since I blogged, I don't have many followers yet so im sure you didnt miss me to much LOL. This previous weekend was fathers day weekend and I went back home to Louisville, KY to see my family. Saturday, I decided to take my dad golfing for fathers day. I played terrible! LOL but it was still fun being out there with my dad tho. I told him I would cut the grass for him also but I forgot and woke up Sunday morning to him cutting the grass. Oops! I had to run to Wal-Mart at midnight to get his card, even tho I was a little late I still found a nice meaningful card for my dad. Sunday night me and my family went to Outback Steakhouse for fathers day dinner. My mom ended up forgetting her purse so my dad ended up having to pay for his own fathers day dinner. LOL Fathers day really didnt turn out how my dad was expecting it, but he still enjoyed it!

Thats about all that's been going on, so when something new happens for me to blog about I will get right on it! lol

Chicago Weekend

So as a college student we all suffer from the same thing.... being broke! LOL its hard for us students when we have so many things to pay for like books, tuition, and school supplies. This summer I have been working at a commissary job on campus but I do not get alot of hours, meaning my pay check is pretty small. A friend of mine that I went to high school with father own a beer vending company called Rocket Man. Since I am not old enough to sell beer, my job is a loader where I prepare the crates with beer and ice and make sure the beer is cold enough for the vendors to sell. We worked at a Drag Racing event in Chicago for three days with hotel, food, and gas was paid for and got paid 300 plus tips! I couldn't turn that down! LOL Besides working we also got to go to a MLS Chicago Fire soccer game in Chicago which was really fun. I used to play soccer so I really enjoyed it and can not wait for the World Cup to start tomorrow!!

Harper & B.G.A. Family Weekend

First, I hope everyone had a great and wonderful Memorial Day weekend and had a chance to be around loved ones like I did. This past weekend I went home to Louisville, Kentucky to visit some family and hang out with friends who pretty much are part family. Our little clique is called B.G.A. (not gang related). There are 5 of us in our clique and ever since we graduated from college, we all went off to do our own thing at different colleges and what not. Saturday was the first time we gotten together in months and it was a very entertaining night and I can not wait for the next time we are all able to kick it again. Monday was Memorial Day, or in my house a day to relax LOL. My dad, brother and I went out golfing all day which was really fun. I played the best game of golf I have ever played. I'm not gonna say what my score was because although it was the best I ever played, does not mean it was a great score LOL. My Memorial Day ended with my dad on the grill. He made burgers, turkey legs, and pork chops. A home cooked meal is something I really miss now that I go to school in Lexington, Kentucky. I forgot to take more pictures but here is a few..

Letters to a Young Brother

I know Easter was awhile ago, but one of my gifts my Mother got me, (yes I still get presents on Easter, dont judge LOL) was this book. Letters to a Young Brother by Hill Harper. The book is a series of letters between Hill Harper and a young adult-all based on questions that young men have personally asked him. Hill Harper addresses many of the tough issues young men are facing today: everything from school, money, and careers, to family life, girls, and achieving goals. Today was the first time I decided to give the book a shot. Im going through a lot right now with family, girls, school, you name it! So I felt now would be a perfect time to start reading. I read a little bit today and I am enjoying this book so far. I could relate what the Young Brother was going through and Hill Harper gives great advice and is an excellent motivational speaker and I recommend reading this book!

"You are the latest and greatest, perfect model of the human species... and each year you can improve. You can become the upgrade you are seeking"

Song Fits Me So Well

First heard this song today and been in love with it ever since. I cant stop listening to Drakes verse in the beginning because it relates to me so much right now!

Drake:
"Ugh, Tez tellin me he just turned 30 having drinks and being single forever hes getting worried. And im scared too cuz im in the same boat. Good women are rare too none of them came close. Me? i haven't changed much, you know how i play it, better safe than sorry instead of searching for substance at every single party. Baby being part of this like im bound to end up with somebody thats been with everybody. I need you to rescue me from my destiny, im tryna live right and give you whatevers left of me cuz u know life is what we make it. And the chances likes a picture itd be nice if you just take it, or let me take it for ya. im just down to ride we can roll around the city till you finally decide. Got more than a thing for you. Tattoo and ink for you right over my heart girl id do the unthinkable"
